What is Marist?

What does it mean to be a "Marist" school and who exactly are the Marist Brothers?

We, the Marist Brothers, are followers of Jesus in the spirit of our founder St. Marcellin Champagnat.

Since 1817 we have taken the message of God’s love to needy young people throughout the world; in schools of all kinds, orphanages, teachers’ colleges, universities.  In recent years our efforts have increasingly gone into solidarity projects for the marginalized, those young people excluded from educational systems.  Projects such as MCSL can be found throughout the world, especially in places disturbed by war (e.g. Bougainvillea, Timor, Cambodia, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Haiti ) as well as in First World countries where many families cannot cope with the pressures of urban living and their children suffer from psychological wounds.

Throughout the world, we are looking for new ways of helping the most needy youth.
