Catholic College Bendigo, 2007

The group of 16 year 11 students fundraised hard for six months, to be able to assist St Joseph's in Apia, and Ulimasao Marist Centre here in Savai'i. Their work at Marist centre included preparing and painting floors, and painting and reorganising the library, and in Apia tutoring students in English and Mathematics.

The progress of the malaga and the work is below:

"Samoa is a Goer": CCB are commissioned for a visit

Traditional 'Ava ceremony of welcome

Ready to meet their billets

Washing after a day's work at a local waterfall

Making friends with turtles

Sometimes we enjoyed the beach but work wasn't forgotten!

The second group doesn't look to be doing anything other than swimming at waterfalls (a daily chore), but I assure you they are doing a great painting job - just so busy that they haven't time to smile for the camera!

The completed library effort - walls painted, books sorted and  re-stacked, and the room tidied up for school. Among the projects from the funds raised, we will build more shelves, and study desks for students.
A completed classroom floor. It looks a rather bright colour, but seems smooth and tough. Now to see how it stands up to students and desks!

Well done, both groups! Your work has made a big difference, and there's more to come from the fundraising you've done.
